Chocolate (Pecan) Squares

These rich little square are simply divine! Lovely snack to serve to your guest, with afternoon tea and coffee. I did not put the pecans in, as I have some that don’t like them, but I imagine they would be delightful. As for the topping, I did half the pan with just milk chocolate chips and the other half I added some peanut butter chips. I think butterscotch chips would be really good. Make the top whatever you want!

Ingredients For Base:

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp Butter or Margarine

Ingredients For Middle:

  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Butter or Margarine
  • 1 Cup Chopped Peacans
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla

Ingredients For Topping:

  • 1/2 Cup Chocolate chips (and/or whatever chips you want)

Directions:

  • Mix together all the base ingredients
  • Press into greased 9×9′ or 8×8′ pan
  • In saucepan, cook brown sugar and butter or margarine, boil for 1 minute, stirring continually
  • Stir in pecans and vanilla
  • Bake 18-20 minutes, or until top is bubbly
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over top
  • Bake to 2 minutes
  • Cool completely
  • Store covered in fridge
