Hot Dog Relish

Best relish ever….seriously! We have made this relish on and off for years, and never tire of it. So much better than the stuff you buy at the store. What I am very excited about this year, is the cucumbers, tomatoes and onions all came from my garden!

Ingredients:

  • 8 large cucumbers
  • 10 medium onions
  • 10 green tomatoes
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 1 sweet pepper
  • 1 hot pepper
  • 4 cups cider vinegar
  • 7 cups white sugar
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 cup flour

Directions:

  • Chop the first 6 ingredients into large pot and let stand overnight (or do it in the morning and let sit more 8hrs)
  • Drain off juice
  • Add vinegar and sugar(leaving out half a cup)
  • Bring to boil and add spice
  • Mix together the flour and 1/2 cup sugar
  • Slowly mix into the relish mixture, cook until thickened
  • Seal in hot jars
