I thought of these cookies yesterday, as I was making some more applesauce. These cookies are great on their own, but I just love having them with a bowl applesauce! You can add chocolate chips to yours if you would like, and sometimes I like to add a little cinnamon. Both are really good, and just plain is delicious too.
- Margarine or Shortening
- Brown Sugar
- White Sugar
- Baking Soda
- cinnamon or chocolate chips(optional)
So these are a little more finicky than most cookie recipes, not meaning they are hard to do, just a step or two more. So let’s get started!
Beat together until light and fluffy:
- 1 cup of Margarine or Shortening
- 3/4 cup of Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup of White Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups of Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp of Baking Soda in 1/3 cup of Boiling Water, add to above mixture.
- 2 cups of Rolled Oats
- optional: cinnamon or chocolate chips
Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown around the edges(8-10mins).
